Jaipur is one of the most colorful cities you would explore in India. A presumption about Jaipur is that it is all about a royal lifestyle and you would get to feel it on the streets. While that may be true at times, it is not the case always.

I had the chance of visiting the city for a friend’s wedding and I wanted to explore the city apart from the royal life. So I decided to look into people, and life on the street. Here are some of my observations.

A circus is something that you just cannot miss in India. What was interesting was the interesting juxtapose of the old form of entertainment and the new form through this set of posters.

Pondicherry Postcards

One of the most picturesque and photogenic places has to be Pondicherry. The unique French and European architecture of the buildings are wonderful and is always a treat to the eyes. The windows to the streets to the walls, everything has a character in itself and one can never be out of subjects to click.

The area around the Aurobindo Ashram and the French consulate is indeed ‘the’ thing to shoot, and the presence of the beach nearby just adds to the whole awesome experience of shooting there.

I admit. I love the Indian Railways, inspite of the mess that it portrays at times and the foul smell that refuses to go away. Recently I was in one of the premier trains and expected better sanitation and facilities, but was in for a shock.

Travellers

Nevertheless I still think that a train journey is not only about reaching the final destination, but it is mostly about the whole experience. The people you meet, the vendors you interact with, the strangers that you talk to, and the stations that you come across. There is a lot that goes into the overall experience of a train journey.

Chugging Along

One of the things that I love doing is going to the gates and watch the world pass by. The villages stand still in time and you get a feel of being in a position where one is racing against time.

Every railway station that you pass has a character in itself. The colors and the elements adds to the experience again. A walk on these stations makes you realize that there is a world outside the metros too.

In the spurge of the moment, we often want to do crazy stuff. Sometimes these so called stunts are dangerous and one always has to be on the lookout for the things coming by.
