Jaipur is one of the most colorful cities you would explore in India. A presumption about Jaipur is that it is all about a royal lifestyle and you would get to feel it on the streets. While that may be true at times, it is not the case always.
I had the chance of visiting the city for a friend’s wedding and I wanted to explore the city apart from the royal life. So I decided to look into people, and life on the street. Here are some of my observations.

I admit. I love the Indian Railways, inspite of the mess that it portrays at times and the foul smell that refuses to go away. Recently I was in one of the premier trains and expected better sanitation and facilities, but was in for a shock.
Nevertheless I still think that a train journey is not only about reaching the final destination, but it is mostly about the whole experience. The people you meet, the vendors you interact with, the strangers that you talk to, and the stations that you come …

Once in a while, I tend to cut connection with all and just go in the find of peace.
Recently I had gone to the Sinhagadh fort in Pune to find this moment. We reached there early in the morning, well before daybreak and watched nature unfold its beautiful colors in front of us. It was truly a moment of peace which I enjoyed every moment.
Sinhagad or Sinhgad (The Lion’s Fort), is a fortress located roughly 30 kilometres southwest of the city of Pune, India. It is situated on …

I love to conduct workshops and have been fortunate to conduct that across the country at different colleges. Over the past few months, I have roamed across India. From Karnataka to Kerela to Tamil Nadu to Goa and now onto Gujarat. I love to travel and am glad that I get to do this for the thing I am most passionate about.
The hit so far has been the ‘Light Painting Workshop’ and I am really glad that the participants like it. Their feedback after the workshops has been very positive …

New York has to be one of the most interesting cities that I have visited so far. It has a character in itself. I had heard a lot about the city and had been wanting to visit it since a long time. In the summer of 2008, I had a chance to visit it during the Independence Day weekend.
The view from atop the Empire State Building is breathtaking. With cars the size of ants, and the concrete jungle below, you begin to get a sense of flying. The Hudson river …

Every day I go out to shoot, I am amazed by the things that I see. It is in these things that I see a message being conveyed to me. I let my photographs convey those messages that people would otherwise not notice. The messages are sometimes philosophical, sometimes spiritual, and some times just cryptic, that it takes you time to understand. I am often mesmerized by the graphics on the trucks and lorries here in India. They are inspirational, have a hidden message and is totally worth the extra …

I do not know how the village got it’s name. I recently visited this village. I visited ‘my’ ancestral village. Smelt the earth on which I played, roamed around the pillars on which I hopped, plucked leaves from the garden, and realized what I have missed all these years. Not that I have not done in the past, but this time it was with a different mindset, expectations and desire.
I had left my village some 24 years ago for education. I was surprised to see that not many things had …

Kolkata is a city that I just simply love. I could go on and on shooting in any part of Kolkata. However for the kind of photography that I do, I like the streets. They are always so full of character. There is never a dearth of subjects, and each one has its own characteristics. On the numerous occasions that I have visited there, I have had a chance to shoot quite a bit. Here are some of the things that I think Kolkata is incomplete without.

After a 2 year stint in the US where I was finishing my masters in Interaction Design and at the same time gathering more knowledge on photography, documentary making and design, I decided to come back to India. The journey back here has been wonderful and I think it is one of the best decisions that I have made in my life and its like falling in love
India’s vibrancy is a treat to photographers like me who thrive on telling stories. We love to make each shot a part of …
